Check Your Tyre Pressure

We all know that we need to check our tyre pressure for a smoother, easier ride. But now it's been reported that having our tyre pressure right could save us money!

According to a recent article from leading charity, TyreSafe, British motorists could be spending more than £600 million a year on unnecessary visits to petrol stations when tyre are underinflated.

Apparently, 57% of tyres driving on British roads are at least 4psi below the vehicles manufacturer's recommendation. 35% are at least 8psi underinflated. This means that, when you drive on tyres that are underinflated, your car's engine has to work harder. This means it needs more fuel to cover the same distance, meaning you add around £100 to your petrol bill every 20,000 miles per year.

Plus, when your tyres are inflated under the recommend settings, it's more likely that they are going to be replaced more often due to wear happening more quickly. Also, due to increase wear and underinflated tyres, there is a higher risk of a tyre burst or blowout due to tyre overheating, even when driving at the speed limit.

All of this means that you will have to buy tyres more often and, of course, this is an extra expensive which most of us don't want till we're just got paid.

That's why it's important to get your car's tyre pressure and alignment check. All of this will save you money in the long run and will make your car safer to drive.
